MEET THE TEAM

Pedro Coutinho

Founding Partner / CEO


With over 20 years of experience in finance and venture capital Pedro spent the last 12 years African Continent, namely Angola, South Africa and Mozambique, where he was investment manager in the Property; Energy and Financial Services Industries.
Pedro started with Espírito Santo Group, initially with the Private Equity arm of the business. When in Africa, Pedro was leading Business Development for Espírito Santo Group in Angola, South Africa and Mozambique with focus on the (Property; Energy and Financial Services). Pedro led the feasibility of just over 2,500 MW of Renewable Energy and over 100.000 sqm of corporate commercial and office property in South Africa and Mozambique respectively.
In 2015 Pedro incorporated Source Capital, headquartered in Maputo.

Kevin Fleischer

Founding Partner


With 30 years experience in finance and venture capital, in advising and investing in South, West and East Africa, UK and the Middle East, Kevin worked in Corporate Finance at Morgan Stanley in New York and London, before becoming a Partner at a UK-based emerging-markets structured finance firm. He was a registered member of the then UK Securities and Futures Authority. From 2002 to 2005, Kevin was the founding CEO of Blue Catalyst, a venture capital project of the South African government. He was a member of the Executive Committee of the South African Venture Capital Association. Kevin consults to government and industry on media, education and small business policy, and is a fellow of the Aspen Institute’s Africa Leadership Initiative. He has a BA in Economics from the University of the Witwatersrand, and a Masters in Finance from Oxford.

Zein Faruk

Group CFO


Zein has an Honors degree in Business Management from Instituto Superior de Ciências e Tecnologias de Moçambique, and has four years of experience in the banking sector at Millennium BIM and BCI. Thereafter he was a Senior Consultant at PwC Mozambique where he was an advisor in several M&A, Mining and Financial Services deals. He joined Source Capital in 2015, and leads the technical support function relating to tax, accounting, compliance and foreign exchange.

Miguel Sottomayor

Business Development & Expansion Advisor


9 Years developing sales channel of Texas Instruments Including Personal Productivity Products  and Telecommunication company ONO (now Vodafone) in Spain.
During 4 years, launched and developed sales channels of Novis (now NOS) provider of services for internet, mobile and fixed telecoms owned by SONAE Group in Portugal.
6 years performing as Executive Director of Express Glass Angola and AS Glass Angola (PG Glass Africa), leading glass manufacturer & supplier of building and car glass products, and Sales Director at ECIL Group in Angola.
Over the past years was Managing Director at SolarWorks Mozambique one of the leading company of Solar Home Systems in Mozambique.

Filipa Manoel

Financial Analyst


Filipa joined in September 2015 where she has been involved in Corporate and Project Finance as well as Project Management on 200 MW of Renewable Energy Projects. With a Master’s degree in Business from Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Filipa has worked with Espírito Santo Investment Bank in Portugal and later joined Moza Banco in Mozambique. She has experience in Corporate Finance and Advisory, was involved in several real estate and tourism deals. She has also worked with the major DFI’s operating in Mozambique.

Candida Macurra

Licencing & ESG Development


With 4 years of experience, Cândida was part of the Graduate Program 2016 at ABSA Bank, where she was a trainee in the Legal Department as a content assistant, Governance and Control as money-laundering analyst, performed as relationship manager assistant and debt assistant in Corporate and Investment Banking.
Cândida joined Source Capital in 2017 where primarily she supports Project Management of all Source projects and currently is focused on Development for Energy Projects.

Jorge Cachaço

Procurement and Accounting


With a bachelor’s degree in business management by ISCTEM and over 20 years experience in Accounting, Audit and Financial Management, having provided audit, tax and accounting consulting for more than 30 companies in different business activities, Jorge joined Source Capital in 2019 where he has been involved in Investment Management and all Finance and Administrative activities of 200 MW of Renewable Energy and 30,000 sqm of Real Estate.
Jorge worked as head of accountant division of audit international company Grant Thornton Mozambique, also as head of finance division of Gravita Mozambique, a leading company in the metals
industry, and was founding partner of CC & SC, a Mozambican tax advisory firm.

Mathew Long

Consultant Engineer


Project Manager; Consultant Engineer
8 y of professional experience in the field of photovoltaics.
Primarily managing and consulting on an extensive range of multi-megawatt utility and commercial PV power plants in various countries, encompassing all aspects of the full project lifecycle.
Experience also in commercial, hybrid and off-grid power systems.
He has worked on numerous PV projects together with international development finance institutes, governments, ministries and agencies throughout the years in many different countries (United Kingdom, Angola, Mozambique, Namibia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Myanmar, Vietnam, Laos, China, Kazakhstan and so on.

Michel Nhaca

Junior Development Engineer


With a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering by the Faculty of Engineering of Universidade Eduardo Mondlane, Michel has rapidly enrolled in the Solar Power business in the early stages of his career joining Catalyst Energy as a Power Developer Engineer for off-grid solar projects in late 2020 through an internship. Before being part of Source Capital, he also worked as a Site Engineer at Larsen & Toubro, inspecting the assembling activities of the first 400 kV overhead to be deployed in Mozambique, under a Trainee program. Currently at Source Capital, Michel is responsible for the development of Solar PV installations for Commercial & Industrial (C&I) facilities focused on self-consumption.

Jasimin Mahome

Junior Accountant Mozambique


Jasmin has a degree in Business Management from the Instituto Superior de Ciências e Tecnologias de Moçambique.
Since her professional career started, Jasmin has worked in the administrative area and joined Source Capital in October 2021.
Within Source Capital, Jasmin has been supporting in the administrative and financial management of the various existing projects, and in the companies owned by Source Capital.

Francisca Pinto de Sousa

Administrative (Trainee) Mozambique


Francisca has recently graduated from the University of Exeter In England with an undergraduate degree in BSc Business and Management.
Francisca joined Source Capital as a trainee and has been involved in Source’s projects, such as social media, advisory services, accounting and administrative tasks.

IGNITE MOZAMBIQUE REACHES 10,000 SHS

By September 2021 Ignite Mozambique reached the milestone of 10,000 installed rooftop solar home systems, with a target to install a further 30,000 in the following 12 months.

CUAMBA SOLAR PV – FINANCIAL CLOSE

In November 2021, Globeleq and Source announced the completion of all financing arrangements for the US$32 million on-grid power plant in northern Mozambique. Construction will begin in Q1 of 2022.
